Advanced Cardiac CT Course

This is our primary educational offering, and is a three-and-a-half-day course and workshop providing training and hands-on experience with your choice of several common cardiac CT workstations.

Objectives

The objectives of the course are to:

• Provide a uniquely valuable experience to those reading cardiac CT images through the use of our proprietary software
• Enable the intermediate and advanced user to increase the accuracy of image interpretation, and to:
  
  • Detect coronary stenosis and plaque
  • Recognize image artifacts and pitfalls
  • Understand the correlation of CT imaging with cardiac catheterization

• Complete 100 supervised cases toward Level 2 certification
• Provide access to workstations from major vendors

Description

The course will immerse users in the process of interpreting cardiac CTA (computed tomography angiography) images. A student will evaluate each CTA study for the presence of coronary artery stenosis, plaque, and image artifacts, and will complete a digital scoring sheet. The student evaluation will then be compared to evaluations derived by expert readers and invasive angiography. All of this is accomplished using our proprietary teaching software.

Both CTA and the corresponding invasive coronary angiography images have been analyzed by expert readers, with the information put into a database. Students can use this data while reading the coronary CTA images, or can be blinded to the data and wait to compare the results at the end of a reading session. A blinded read will allow readers to achieve certification based on a score provided for each report, and the user will always have the opportunity to re-examine any CTA study and examine the corresponding coronary angiography data for additional insight.
